Baby it's Cold Outside......

I've spent the lost few days holed up in the house working on projects. And watching Battlestar Gallactica.

I found two really nice 26" by 26" down upholstery pillows at Goodwill with the tags still on them. I spent the morning today making pillowcases (with zippers) out of a vintage batik I had been saving. I was shooting for something unique like this. In case you haven't figured it out..... I'd like to live in an Anthropologie catalog.

Tyree has spent the last few days scraping and stripping a desk that I brought home. It was initially a gift for my niece, but they decided they didn't want it. It was covered in black, then hunter green, then white paint. Now it is oak again for Conor's room. It turned out to be a really beautiful piece of furniture. I'm glad he took the time to do it.

The pillow. One of a pair.

The little desk getting a coat of semi-gloss polyurethane.

Two cuties in their winter coats.

My Office

Here's a picture of my office (Dad) so you can see what tech support looks like. I have great natural light so I barely have to turn my light on. There isn't normally a computer in my fireplace, either. Today I'm working on a comprehensive maintenance plan for the whole building. I have to project what might need to be done in the next 10 years. I've been climbing around playing building inspector all day.

My computer used to be on the other desk, but people could sneak up on me. Ninjas don't like that.

La Di Da........

On my lifelong list of DIY projects.....The Door-Headboard. Yes, it's the favorite of all architectural salvage projects, but you can't deny that it works so well. We sold a lot of 5-panel fir doors in my many years at the ReStore for this purpose. Tyree had one in the garage collecting dust and cobwebs for a few years or something. I was given a new circular saw as a gift from a friend. It was meant to be.

So without further ado.....

We go from this (note the buckets and the dropcloth in the living room was really cold in the garage)

To this. It's just getting downright fancy around here.

New Couch....

The new Couch (Loveseat.) Thanks Craigslist!

We may have finally moved out of the futon stage of our lives. It's not that we hated the thing, it's just that it made our already-dark living room look a lot darker. It looks much better in my sister's nearly glowing all-white apartment. Goodbye Futon..... you served me well for many years!
